I was lucky. I grew up in a small town, in a small, well funded school district. We went on many field trips, which I remember fondly. Tree planting, fish hatcheries, Indian reservations, Outdoor school...lots of opportunities for learning.
With the economy in the toilet, school districts are forced to cut cash everywhere. Unfortunately, field trips are one of the first things to go-considered unnecessary in a child's curriculum. And while this technically is true, the benefit of an educational field trip and outside of the box learning is so great, but cannot be adequately measured. According to a 2009 report, 56% of schools nationwide are cutting out field trips to meet budgets. So sad.
Well, Lunchables Lunch Combinations want to help. They are launching a new initiative called Project Potential. Project Potential's main goal is to help children reach their full learning potentials by providing as many educational opportunities as possible. One way they are doing that is with a project called Field Trips For All. Anybody can nominate a deserving classroom to win an inspiring, educational field trip, such as this Alien Field Trip.
Out of all the nominations, 50 classrooms will be chosen and gifted with an amazing, enriching field trip they will never forget.
If you know a student or a classroom that could benefit from this awesome program, please head over to Field Trips For All and nominate them now!
