Just for the record, I do not speak Spanish, I am not nearly that cool. I wish I was, but my brain is running out of room for information and I'm pretty sure that if I stuck another language in there I might forget something important like how to breathe or how to make garlic mashed potatoes and nobody wants that to happen.
Ah, Mother's Day. I almost like it more than my birthday, only because I get to celebrate other really cool people like my mom and my stepmom and a ton of my friends as well as myself. I've had a fabulous time celebrating so far...
Friday, I attended a Mother's Day Tea at the Curly Haired One's preschool. The cuteness factor was overwhelming.
All of the mamas got to have snack with our preschooler, then receive a handmade card...
....and bouquet of flowers with the reason they love their mama.
Oh, the sweetness. It was also nice to have a chance to chat with the teachers, who assured me that my kid is indeed, a rockstar. She's polite and helpful, bright and kind and well-behaved.
Geez, tell me something I don't already know. :) Kidding. I know she's awesome, but it's great to get reassurance that I'm not screwing her up or anything.
Saturday we went to a birthday party for a little girl named Kaylin. She is the daughter of my stepmother's sister (I guess that makes her my cousin?). She is the little girl I spoke of that is battling cancer. She will be going in next month for a bone marrow transplant and will be very sick on her birthday, so yesterday she got a fabulous birthday party complete with every little girl's dream-pony rides.
All the kids rode the horse, lots of babies were held....
....and fun was had by all.
Today, my girls gave me the best birthday present of all....they slept in until 9:30 am. The latest they have ever slept in. Granted, they were up until 11 pm last night, but hey-I'll take what I can get.
Mr. Floren did a most fabulous job with gifts. I've told him a million times-it's not about how much you spend or anything like that, what means the most to me is when he spends the time to get me something thoughtful. Not the run of the mill bouquet of flowers or whatever. He got me an awesome exercise ball to use as an office chair-they are so good for your posture and core strength and I've been coveting one forever-a new frying pan that I desperately wanted, and a new CD case for the car that I really needed. Nothing extravagant, just extremely thoughtful and sweet gifts. I LOVE that guy. And the best part of my Mother's Day so far?
Sitting on the beach this afternoon, enjoying an absolutely beautiful Seattle day, a few drinky-poos, holding hands with the hubs and watching the girls play. Perfection.
Happy Mother's Day to all the great moms out there, working their hardest to make their little people the best they can be. The hardest, and most important job there is. And I know I don't only speak for myself when I say that it is the best job there is, as well.

Speaking of Moms, breast cancer is an issue that effects all women, mothers or not. But Mother's Day is a great time to be reminded of the fight against breast cancer-so many mothers, daughters, sisters and friends have been effected by the disease.
There is a super fun way you can help support the fight against Breast Cancer- buying a "Save the ta-tas®" Brand Clothing t-shirt or tank top or boob lube®,the proceeds of which will benefit breast cancer research. Boob Lube® is a soothing body soap that serves as a healthy reminder for women to conduct self breast exams monthly. The message on the products might be fun and sassy, but the mission of ta-tas® Brand Clothing is clear - fight cancer and save the ta-tas!

Julia Fikse, ta-tas® Brand Clothing designer and creator, has been thanked by numerous women and families of victims and survivors who have shared testimonials of hope and humor generated by her big-hearted cancer-fighting designs. Some of the hottest celebrities are embracing these playful t-shirts as well, such as Kate Beckinsdale and Fran Drescher.
You and your mom can make a statement while making a difference, and help raise both awareness and funds for the fight against a disease that, according to the American Cancer Society, affects one out of eight women. To purchase a fun shirt or some boob lube, head on over to Save The TaTas and use the code InOutDoor to receive 15% off your purchase!
Or, you know, you could win one! Leave me a comment, any comment, about why your Mom means so much to you, or how breast cancer has effected your life, and I will enter you for a chance to win a Save The TaTas tank of your very own! You'll have until Friday to enter!
