Tasty Mommy Thursday

So, you're a mom now. You get puked on, you clean up poop, you have small handprints on the bottom of all of your shirts, you barely have time to wash the stink off yourself every day (if you're lucky) let alone spackle on some makeup. I get it. But I really don't think being your gorgeous self has to end when you pop out a little rugrat! You can still be fashionable and fierce, you just have to do it in a different way. So I bring you....Tasty Mommy Thursdays. Every Thursday I'll post about a product, service, or something that is a quick convenient way for you to embrace the inner supermodel you once were before you procreated a leech.

Today's product of my adoration:

Well, first off, I will give you the most important piece of beauty advice you'll ever hear. Moisturize and sunscreen your face. Every single day. Sounds kind of silly as I was advocating tanning last week, but protect your face. Nothing will age you faster than not taking care of the one thing everyone sees first...your lovely mug. The best way to keep your face looking young and healthy is really that simple...protecting it from sun damage, and moisturizing frequently. A great way to make sure it is protected is by using a foundation or cover up with sunscreen already mixed in. A personal fave of mine is Cover Girl Tru Blend Whipped Foundation, has an SPF 15 sunscreen in the lightest, least oily foundation I've ever used. But that's a whole other post.

Side note: I'm what you may call frugal. Actually, if I had my way, I would probably live at the MAC store. They'd have my picture on the wall, and a bed for me to take naps in in between shopping sprees. Alas, my husband's cheap biggest concern is paying off our house and saving college funds for the girls rather than my makeup collection, so I only get to splurge once in a great while. Luckily, I have found it totally possible to get great cosmetics and products that work wonderfully at Target prices. So if you think more expensive means better, I may not be the beauty blogger for you. All the products I cover will be generally very budget conscious, with the exception of one or two great splurges.

Back to my face advice. Sunscreen is the first step, with moisturizing being the second. Moisture is key (and not only when talking about faces, am I right?) to keeping wrinkles at bay, maintaining firm, supple skin, and even, contrary to popular thought, helps combat breakouts. That is the biggest complaint about moisturizer I've heard...it makes me breakout, it's too greasy, it makes my skin feel gross. If you are part of one of those groups, have I got the answer for you. Clean and Clear's Dual Action Moisturizer is an oil-free moisturizer and acne fighter in one. I began using this product 10 years ago! (god I'm old) when I was suffering from both acne and dry skin at the same time. The acne fighter (good old salicylic acid) goes to work on any breakouts you may have working their way up, while the light oil-free moisturizer tames your dry skin. 10 years later, I still think it's the perfect daily use facial moisturizer. I've tried others, just to find that they are too greasy or thick, or actually cause breakouts rather than help to keep them away. I am fortunate enough that acne isn't really a problem for me anymore, but I do have an occasional breakout when not using this product, versus absolutely none when I am using.

In short, not only do I think it's a miracle and will keep me looking young and ravishing forever, it's also very affordable. If you prefer to internet shop, you can get it on the Clean and Clear website for $6.49/bottle, but I get it at Target for more like $4.49/bottle. I use two pumps a day, every day, twice a day in the summer, and a bottle lasts me at least 2 months, if not 3.

Alright ladies, I hope this product can benefit you as much as it has me! And as I said earlier, you get puked on, you clean up poop....you deserve to take care of yourself! Embrace your inner Tasty Mommy!
